Amnesty in the Summer!

Good Morning Activists!

It's getting close to the 4th of July and that always signals to be the close to mid-summer point, therefore, I thought I'd check everyone up on what has been going on.

The coolest thing is Emily Helms, who is working in philly this summer, got to be on the Daily Show while volunteering for Amnesty's Cell Tour! Check out these videos on YouTube! Who you gonna call? Amnesty International and Cell Tour Dancing?

Emily and I are both leading delegations for the Shut Down Guantanamo Bay lobby in Wayne and West Chester, respectively. Next week the lobbying begins all over the county to close down the symbolic USA torture facility. If you haven't already there is still time to join in a delegation near you.

Many of you probably got an email from Amensty yesterday explaining the Summer Soliadarity Action. Basically, this action consists of sending letters of support and hope to imprisoned human rights defenders in Zimbabwe, China, Belarus, Mexicao, and Libya. Take some nice notecard paper, a pen, and some addresses with you next time you chill in the lovely summer weather. Get a nice tan or whatnot and encourage fellow human rights defenders who need your support! Write one letter, a few, or one for everyone just visit here to get the addresses and background information, then go enjoy yon self!

Anyone who is up in State College for the Summer or is going up to visit for Arts Fest weekend, please give me an email kmr5093@psu.edu or a call 484-319-1115 so we can get a summer AmnesTEA together!

Enjoy the Sunshine!

Tina
